Indoor plant care is a process of observation. Before changing products or routines, compare the plant’s current condition with its recent light, watering, root environment, temperature and pest history. This prevents one symptom from triggering several conflicting treatments.
Inspect before treating
Look under leaves, along veins, at stem joints and near the soil. Sticky residue, fine webbing, bumps, cottony masses or flying adults provide clues. Not every insect is a pest, so identify before applying a product.

Start with physical control
For many small infestations, rinsing, wiping, pruning badly affected parts and removing adults with traps can reduce numbers. Repeat inspections because eggs and hidden stages remain.

- Use a separate cloth for each plant.
- Bag heavily infested debris.
Use products carefully
If a pesticide or insecticidal soap is needed, choose one labelled for the pest and indoor ornamental plants. Follow the label exactly, test a small area, ventilate as directed and keep people and pets away until safe.

- Do not use outdoor-only pesticides indoors.
- Repeat only at labelled intervals.

- Record the symptom, soil condition, light and recent changes.
- Correct the most likely environmental cause first.
