Indoor plant care is a process of observation. Before changing products or routines, compare the plant’s current condition with its recent light, watering, root environment, temperature and pest history. This prevents one symptom from triggering several conflicting treatments.
Humidity is only one factor
Many tropical plants prefer more humidity than a heated home provides, but light, root health and watering are often more important. A humidity reading is useful only when considered alongside temperature and airflow.
- Group compatible plants without crowding them.

- Use a hygrometer if sensitive plants struggle.
What helps
A room humidifier can raise humidity over a meaningful area when cleaned and operated safely. Pebble trays affect only a very small zone and must keep the pot above the water. Misting gives brief moisture but does not replace stable humidity.

- Prevent condensation and mould.
- Keep leaves able to dry.
What not to do
Do not keep potting mix wet to compensate for dry air. Do not seal ordinary plants in unventilated decorative containers. Higher humidity without airflow can encourage disease.
